My name is Vania, and this is my excuse for a design portfolio. I just call it a work in progress. It was conceived six years ago and has evolved into something partly professional and semi personal.
 
I learned quickly that designers are generally underappreciated. People see, use, take pictures of, watch, read, tear up, crack jokes about, and ship things in our work, but the average person rarely takes a moment to appreciate the floral pattern on their toilet paper, or the nicely layed-out cover of the "Gingivitis and You" pamphlets at their dentist's office. And then they have the nerve to ask, "So what exactly is graphic design?"
 
But as unnerving as that could be, we're still needed (even if we're the only ones who think so). Without us, the world would wreak havoc with its use of clipart.
 
Basically, images communicate messages. Your image projects your vision, whether it's for your business or your birthday party. I see my role as someone who can help you convey that image accurately, uniquely, and effectively.
 

Approximately eighteen years ago, I was born on the lovely island of O'ahu. But I've been stuffed in a blender--with sweet mangoes, faith in Jesus Christ, friends, family, lemons, a few shattered hopes, insane dreams, and splashes of different cultures--and puréed into the quirky, curious, simplistically complex, mildly artistic, playfully sarcastic, people loving, music adoring, quote junkie I am today. (Say THAT in one breath.)
 
I now live in a sleepy town in Pennsylvania with my mom, sister, and parrot.
 
When not working, I find ways to amuse myself. Having a plethora of amazing friends helps. I also enjoy reading a good book under a tree on a summer day, the occasional movie night, tossing a frisbee around, road trips...and sushi. Life is good.
